According to their website the Ciacci Piccolomini D'Aragona estate dates back to the 17th century although it's not clear when they start making the wines there.

The estate passed through various hands over the years before being taken over by Giuseppe Bianchini in 1985.

The estates vineyards are situated on the south,south-west side of Montalcino at an altitude between 240-360m above sea-level.
There is a mild micro-climate there so the vines grow in ideal conditions.

So that's a brief run down of what I've learnt about the winery from their website, how about the wine?

As usual my notes at the Rive Gauche off-license tasting (where I tried this) are sparse, so here goes:

This 100% Sangiovese varietal wine was light, refreshing and flavourful.

I got grapes and berrys on the palatte.

Very nice.
