This is one of a set of 3 wines from Kobe Winery to coincide with the annual Kobe Luminarie (the other two are red and white wines).

The Kobe Luminarie is held every year in December in Kobe to commemorate the Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995 where over 6000 people tragically died.

The Luminarie is a beautiful light festival in downtown Kobe, and about 3-5 million people visit it each year for the two weeks it runs.

Unfortunately this Kobe Rose is not much better than the Red.

It's a darkish rose with a hint of brown in the glass. The nose is very much Japanese grapes (this wine is made with 100% Kobe grown grapes, although I don't know the variety). The nose is also vegetative and a bit earthy.

On the palate, it's vegetative and earthy but not in a good way, it's also a little fizzy.

Bitter and astringent...as you may have guessed I'm not a big fan of this one (and to be honest I didn't think I would be!), fingers crossed the white is better...haven't tried that yet.
