I didn't realise until checking out the website on the side of the can (wineinacan.com) this is actually produced by Barokes whose canned wines I've tried before, and really didn't like...Bubbly Rose and Bubbly Wine Bin 171.

Apparently because of their huge success here in Japan they've launched this Kanga Wine range specifically for the Japanese market. This red wine goes particularly well with "Yakitori, Tonkatsu, Kushiage, Kushikatsu", aswell as Pizza, etc, according to the can and their website.

Thankfully, although the wine isn't great, it is better than the Barokes other range.

It has a bold, floral nose with hints of violets.

On the palate, it was light and floral again with hints of violet. Not dry or tannic, quite fresh, but I couldn't decide if the floral taste was fresh or chemical (if that makes sense, I was admittedly a little drunk).
It's an odd taste for a wine.

My wife said it smelt of the can (i.e. metallic), but like I say, I'd already tried (drunk all of) the Pret A Boire Merlot so my senses were a bit off perhaps.
The Pret A Boire was better in my opinion but this was ok.
