And I bet you thought Sapporo only made beer. Well it seems they make some pretty decent wine too.

This is Nagano Merlot Cabernet is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the production ran to only 10,850 bottles.

It has a gorgeous purpley, violet colour in the glass with a strong earthy nose.

On the palate it's mellow, smooth and well balanced.

It's quite dry and fairly tannic with some roughness on the teeth.

And it was pretty cheap too. Definitely worth checking out. I might see if I can get hold of another bottle or two.
