I always like to buy local wines, beers or sakes when I travel, and this one I bought on a recent trip to Biwako Lake in Shiga Prefecture, although to be honest I didn't have very high expectations for it. Least of all because it, like many Japanese red wines, is made with Muscat Bailey A grape, which I'm not a big fan of.

It's a dark, black red wine in the glass with a slightly off vegetative nose.

On the palate it's vegetative with peppers and a hint of sourness.

It was quite smooth, not acidic, with a short, mellow finish.

Unfortunately though the vegetative nose and taste were not too appealing for me.

Looks my expectations were correct.
