This bottle has a great humorous label with a story about the name (the stockmen used to live in the hut, which was built in the 1860s in the vineyard, apparently).

Despite it having a novelty look about it, this wine is actually very, very good. And for the price, about $16, a real bargain.
The label said to drink now or cellar for up to 3 years, which makes me think I was drinking it a bit late (4 years past the vintage year), but as I said, excellent.

On the nose it was rich and jammy with wafts of alcohol (it's 14% so not too surprising there).
The wine is medium bodied with some acidity and a warming alcohol feel, and a deep black, red colour.

It was pretty jammy on the palatte too, and there was a hint of mint (actually I read that on the bottle, then I could pick it up afterwards...is that cheating?). A great combination, jam and mint. Actually reminded me of roast lamb.

The aftertaste was quite alcoholically tingly, not acidic but like a throbbing sensation. I liked it.

Will definitely buy this again.
