This Koshu wine I picked up from the winery when I visited Katsunuma in 2009 and bought it more for the novelty than anything else. It's a plastic cup with a foil seal and plastic lid on the top.Grape : Koshu

Great for taking away and drinking at picnics etc.
It's made with 100% Yamanashi prefecture grapes and these grapes are Koshu grapes which are the only grape variety native to Japan apparently and a lot of Japanese white wines are (unsurprisingly) made with this variety. Which isn't a bad thing as it generally does make a pretty good white wine.
This Soryu Wine is a very pale, yellow colour with green apples on the nose.
It has a slightly thick, syrupy feel in the mouth and it's quite sweet with lots of apple, particularly stewed apples.
A little tart on the edges of the tongue this actually tastes better on the (medium) finish than it does up-front.
Overall a fairly good Japanese white wine.
