This is a cheap Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend from Italy (¥500 about $5) and perhaps that's why I couldn't find out much about it.

I'm not even sure which winery made it. I've put it down as Roccaverde (as that's writ large on the label) but I also have Rubicone written down in my notes. Not sure why.

Anyway, this wine is quite fruity on the nose and a little sour on the palate with a dry finish. Not so much tannin.

I initially didn't like it, but it grew on me. The sourness dropped off and the mellow fruit became more pronounced.

Overall it was ok, seeing as it was 2 for ¥1000 ($10) (I also bought the Sangiovese), but not great.
You get what you pay for.
