I quite like the Cono Sur wines, they don't wow me but they're very drinkable, good everyday wines and most importantly, for my budget, cheap. They also have a simple, elegant label.Grape : Pinot Noir

The other day I splashed out on their Reserva Pinot Noir, at ¥1200 nearly twice the price of their usual wines I think.
Like their cheaper versions this one is pretty strong on the alcohol at 14%.
It has a beautiful dark strawberry colour. Very transluscent giving it a light, bright feel, with a full floral nose (my wife could smell violets), and some strawberries.
On the palate it's light and flowery, also with some subtle fruits.
It has a slight sour aftertaste but it's a long and complex aftertaste.
It also has some tobacco and leather in there too.
It's quite dry and acidic and a really bright, sharp and lively wine.
Overall it's really very floral, and this mixed with the tannic dryness is an unusual combination in the mouth which I think I liked.
On a grape note, it's 100% hand-picked pinot noir.
