Could be the surprise wine of the year! A stunning wine is the Fench style but with the warmth and depth that many French wines are lately missing. An easy going taste with a subtle richness to make you want to pour a second glass as soon as possible.Vineyard : Mercian Katsunuma

Now I got this wine as a gift and had no idea of what to expect. A Japanese merlot? My experience of Japanese wine was limited to trying to remember f you drank Sake cold or hot. I more than a bit nervous breeching this wine as I had taken it to a local wine importer friend to share the experience with him....Japanese merlot was a new experience to be shared. I treed ot to get too excited when the immediate softness, deep nose the wine gave off was well above expectations. The first tatste was like discovering wine for the first time again. All I could think of was the film Sideways and it's running joke on merlots. Like to see them try his one! Cannot recommedn high enough...try this wine.

Matured in French Oak. Really smooth and flat on the tongue. Slides down the throat with no lingering aftertaste. Very winey (if that makes sense) and almost smells like port. Full bodied but not too heavy.

Didn't like the smell much (not a fan of merlot), but taste is great.
