Had this at a local wine tasting and it's a most unusual white wine (for my taste).

A greeny, yellow colour with a medicinal alcohol or something smell. It reminded me of a hippy stall in Camden market in London, or that glue you used at school, Copydex. Or maybe glue thinner.

According to Karen MacNeill's "The Wine Bible" - a great book - smells like paint thinner or nail polish remover is a sign of ethyl acetate when acetic acid (commonly found in wine) mixes with the ethanol (the common alcohol) in wine.

Although she doesn't say whether this is a bad thing or not, I certainly didn't like it.

However, the two Japanese ladies next to me were saying how delicious it was, because of the glue thinner smell and the accompanying weird taste. So obviously, each to their own.

On the palate I got a kind of medicinal mouth wash, like you might get in a dentist.

(Their website says: green apples, hay, mature grape and clorophyll).

It could just have been a bad bottle, (although as I said the two ladies really liked it).
However I won't be buying it, but would definitely try it again if it comes up at another tasting.
