Very Old Barton

This isn't just an old bourbon, it's a "Very Old" bourbon! It doesn't seem as if there's just a plain old "Old Barton", so I guess they just waited a bit longer to release a very old one. (I believe this is a 6 Year Old Bourbon).

It comes in a nice inverted "bowl" shaped bottled, and is a golden, brown, toffee colour.

It has a subtle nose, I don't get much off it, but on the palate, there's a lovely taste of bananas! A nice, subtle finish of bananas mixed with some wood notes.

A really interesting and very drinkable bourbon this. I wasn't sure at first when I bought it. I hadn't heard of it before (it was a new one in my local off-license), and thought it might be just one of the average cheap bourbons you can get (apologies to the distillery for saying that! My ignorance is not your fault).

But I was wonderfully surprised after my first taste.
Although I wouldn't put it up there with my favourites like Crown Royal, and Makers Mark, but it is an excellent bourbon and one I would buy again when this bottle is empty.
