I had this whiskey in a rather expensive hotel bar in a posh hotel in Nagoya, Japan.
I only mention that as I was more impressed with the way it was served than the whiskey itself.

It was poured over a almost perfectly spherical ball of ice that almost entirely filled the glass.

First time I'd seen this kind of ice "ball" and we asked the barman how they made it. Turns out one of the "junior" barmen chips away at the ice to make them all.
Nice.

Have since found out that you can buy a machine in the local department store that makes them for you for about ¥3000 ($30).

Anyway, back to the whiskey.

Initially it was a little harsh and biting, but improved on the second sip, overall nice, but only scored 65, so couldn't have been that great.

Would like to try again, but perhaps in a cheaper environment. It cost ¥1400 for the shot, (about $14), about the same price as a bottle of Crown Royal here in Japan.
