Four Roses Bourbon is one of my favourite bourbons, partly because for the price (here in Japan it's about ￥1400, $14, for the standard bourbon) it's one of the smoothest and easiest drinking Bourbons I've tried (Crown Royal just beats it though).Location : USA > Kentucky

Around Christmas this year I splashed out and bought the Four Roses Super Premiuim, at ￥7000 ($70), quite a big step up.
I've just actually found out, via the Four Roses website, this Super Premium (sometimes referred to as "Platinum") is only available in Japan!
So I guess I'm pretty lucky to be able to try it.
It's smooth, a little sharp, but slips down the throat wonderfully.
It has a slight wooden aftertaste, not oaky, but kind of a wet bark, balsa wood taste. Like chewing on a match.
Very drinkable.
Not sure about the huge 5x price mark up though.
