It's a very pale straw colour in the glass with a strong alcoholic hit on the nose (the alcohol is 55.5% Abv so that's not too surprising).
There's also a slight floral note on the nose too and I got some salty sea water too. According to the Dalmore website the distillery is at sea level and surrounded by the salt air, with the warehouses being sea-facing. Could definitely account for the salty sea-water nose!
On the palate it's warming but not too alcoholic. I was expecting a bigger kick, being 55.5%, but just got a nice warming feel and a bit of a zing on the lips.
Tastewise, it has a mellow woody feel, not smokey but maybe a charred wood feel, like it was matured in a charred barrel (no idea if it was, but the Master of Malt says it's aged in a single refill hogshead).
It has an odd finish, with a very subtle of something like sour fruit.
A very nice, but for me a slightly unusual tasting whisky, so I'm not sure if I'm a big fan of it.
Definitely drinkable though!
It's available from the Master of Malt website in 70cl bottles or the 3cl dram samples, at the following link:
