Another one of the dram samples Master of Malt sent me to taste, and possibly the oldest whisky I've ever tried I think. 27 years. Now that's a lot of time in a barrel (a refill sherry hogshead to be precise).Location : Scotland > Speyside
Whiskey Type : Single Malt
Alcohol : 53.6%

In the glass it's a nice, dirty golden colour with warm alcohol on the nose.
Taking a sip, it's warm, very warm and quite sharp around the edges of the tongue.
It has a slightly syrupy feel to it too.
Big on the alcohol. I added a few drops of water and this softened the alcohol slightly, making it more agreeable.
It also made it feel a bit creamier, and fuller in the mouth. Still pretty sharp around the gums though.
Tastewise, mellow, dark wood with a hint of vanilla.
This is a very nice whisky, but with sharp, strong alcohol and, for me, no unique interesting taste (sorry!), but it does have a nice warming feel.
As with the other Master of Malt whiskeys, it's available in 70cl bottles, or the 3cl dram sample bottles.
