I love this whiskey!

This whiskey was originally blended in 1939 to commemorate a tour of Canada by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain by the Seagram Company who originally owned the brand.

(I'm getting this info from wikipedia and the Canadian Crown Royal website. www.crownroyal.ca I don't recommend the American site as it's too Flash based and hard to navigate).

Apparently the whiskey was placed on the Royal train so the couple could have a few while touring the country. Nice.

The water they use for the whiskey comes from the Canadian Rocky Mountain glaciers and the whiskies in the blend are made from milled corn, rye and malted barley.

One of the great things about this whiskey is the presentation. The whiskey is held in a unusual, crown shaped bottle, in a purple velvet bag, inside a box. Even the screw cap shows some attention to detail and design.
All for a bargain price of about ¥1500 ($15).

As for the whiskey itself, it's a golden amber colour and is bright and sweet on the palate. It's a little sharp on the tongue but slips down the throat unnoticed.

My favourite bourbon (Wild Turkey is a close second) and one I keep going back to.

Highly recommended.
