(According to Wikipedia that is).
So basically it's another name for Japan (like Yamato is also) and is quite trendy in films, anime, Japanese restaurants and now a Sparkling Sake from Gekkeikan Brewery in Kyoto.
This sparkling seishu is a clear sparkling sake with a pure white fizzy head.
There's no discernible nose and it has a light fizzy feel and a light taste. There's a slight carbonated soda water feel to it and it's a little dry. (Although according to the American Gekkeikan Sake website it's supposed to be slightly sweet).
Overall not much taste to it really, just kind of an indistinct sparkling sake.
Still, not bad, and makes a change from a sparkling wine every now and then.
