Ok, so this sake is called "Seven Samurai", and I'm sure everyone who's reading this has heard of the film "Seven Samurai" by Akira Kurosawa? If not, you've probably heard of the Hollywood remake "Magnificent Seven", if you didn't know that was a remake of a Seven Samurai, put the sake down and rent/download the original! It rocks.

Anyway, so this sake is called Seven Samurai, and I couldn't read the kanji of the brewery so imagine my delight when searching for Wakayama Prefecture and Sake, it came up with a brewery who's website url started with "rashomon-"... (For those that are saying...huh? Search for Kurosawa and Rashomon (another great film (remade for American television in 1960 by Sidney Lumey no less), thanks Wikipedia.)) - too many brackets.

So, shall we talk about the sake, or just carry on, babbling like a Kurosawa otaku?

This sake is made with Gohyakumangoku (五百万石) rice polished down to 60%, with a Nihonshudo of +4 so should be pretty dry. The 酸度 (sando - acidity) is 1.4.

The sake itself is slightly yellow in colour with a light nose.

It's pretty cold at the moment so I had this sake warm (a couple of minutes in the microwave), smooth and light on the palate with no big hit of alcohol.

There's a slight hint of rice on the finish.

Overall a fairly plain tasting sake, but very smooth and drinkable. I liked this one.

Their website is http://www.rashomon-kuramoto.co.jp/

(Just read this review back, and the actual sake review was ridiculously short. However, it's a very good sake, so worth checking out, despite my 'brief' review).
