This one is from Iwate prefecture, in the northern part of Honshu (the largest of Japan's 4 main islands), up from Tokyo and a bit down from Hokkaido.
Nanbu Bijin (Nanbu stands for the region, and Bijin means beautiful woman in Japanese) Brewery is relatively new, by sake brewery standards, established in 1902 it makes it a young 110 year old! (Although technically they didn't start brewing till 1915, before that they just sold sake).
It's a small family run brewery and more information (in English) can be found at their website here.
As for this cup sake, it has a light nose, with a hint of alcohol.
Not much on the palate, nothing outstanding. Smooth with not too much of an alcoholic kick.
Very pleasant and drinkable, but nothing will make me remember it.
But, having said that, for a drinkable cup sake, I can't complain.
