This was one of the 47 cup sakes (one from each prefecture in Japan), and it's from Tokun Shuzo Sake Brewery in Chiba Prefecture (near Tokyo).Area : Japan > Chiba > Katori City

It's a standard sake (seishu), made from rice, kouji (rice mold which, basically, makes sake), and added alcohol.
It has a light sake nose with a hint of malt, cereal (almost like a beer).
On the palate it's smooth and again there's a hint of the cereal flavour that I got on the nose, you can feel the alcohol too.
Overall this is a drinkable, but not outstanding, standard sake. This is almost reflected in it's non-descript, forgettable, cup design. The name of the sake and brewery is on the lid, and the brewery is written very small in blue on the glass. A simple, minimalistic design gone too far?
Their (equally unremarkable) website, only in Japanese unfortunately, is here at http://www.tokun.co.jp/.
