Ron de Jeremy Rum
This is a 7 year old Panamanian Rum hand crafted by Cuban Master Distiller Francisco "Don Pancho" Fernandez and named after and affiliated with the "Adult Entertainment Movie" legend that is Ron Jeremy!
Ron crossed over into mainstream entertainment with "roles" in Ghostbusters and Killing Zoe amongst others. Now his latest endeavour is to have his face and name attached to a phenomenal rum.
I should say up front that I haven't drunk rum since my heady teenage days, drinking random bottles of booze in parks or house parties, and my memories of rum are not that favourable (seemed to remember drinking something called Navy Rum with unpleasant aftereffects).
So this would be my first rum in about 18 years...let's give it a go.
On the nose, it's got a nice spicy nose with a hint of tropical fruits or something in there.
I tried it neat and on the first sip I was surprised how smooth and mellow it was. Slips cleanly down the throat with a pleasant dried fruit and slightly spicy finish. After a while the dried fruits become more apparent and stick around.
There's a subtle sweetness coming through on the second tasting, making this a very drinkable, moreish rum.
I'm incredibly impressed with this, and can't believe I've left it sitting in my cupboard for months on end and not tried it ages ago!
Would love to get my hands on a full bottle of this and not just the 3cl sample Master of Malt sent me!
This rum is available from Master of Malt in full 75cl bottles or like the sample I was sent, in small 3cl bottles if you just want to give it a try.
