The picture on the right shows a Sakabayashi (Sake Grove) Cedar Ball. These are hung outside sake breweries (and some sake off licenses) to show that sake has been recently brewed.

I’m always on the look out for fish shaped wine bottles (don’t know why but it seems to be a popular search on google for this site…) so I was very pleased to discover this gorgeous Sake bottle shaped like a fish at one of our local sake breweries.

In an hour or so, we’re about to go on a tour of the local area sake breweries. I live in Hyogo which has about 60% of the sake (nihonshu – Japanese rice wine) breweries in Japan.
