Looks like disaster struck Fukushima is slowly getting back on it’s feet with recent news that the Miyagikyo Distillery in Sendai reopened it’s distillery tours, which were suspended after the quake, and newspapers yesterday reporting that Asahi Breweries will be resuming it’s shipments of beer from it’s brewery in Motomiya, Fukushima Prefecture by the end of June.

This fantastic new commercial from Sapporo came to my attention through the Mutineer Magazine blog, I’ve yet to see it on Japanese TV. Maybe I’m not watching enough NHK variety shows! (Thankfully I don’t watch any!).
It’s a phenomenal live action/cgi trip through Japanese brewing history and mythology (I guess!) – including sumo wrestlers, geisha taiko drumming and dragons – and is just quite beautiful to watch… Continue reading
