Another Fish Shaped Wine Bottle

It’s been a while but I finally found another fish shaped wine bottle!
I just happened to be doing my usual weekly shop in the local supermarket when there it was, sitting on the shelf…

Pescevino Rosso

Pescevino Rosso from Pescevino Winery in Osimo Italy.
A very dry, fruity wine that was surprisingly drinkable (a bit unfair perhaps but I wasn’t expecting much, seeing as it’s an Italian table wine in a fish shaped wine bottle).

The other fish-shaped bottled wine I’ve tried was the Boscato Rosso from Villa Dante which unfortunately was shockingly bad.

I’d previously spotted (but not tasted) another Pescevino Rosso bottle on a trip to Katsunuma, but that was a blue bottle, so a different blend perhaps?

Anyway, it’s good to know that these gimmicky wine bottles are still out there! And while they’re out there, I’ll keep buying them! (Well, maybe just the once, depending on what’s inside them of course).

Villa Dante Boscato Rosso Fish Shaped Bottle

A while ago a reader of this blog contacted me about the Villa Dante Boscate Rosso wine (in the gorgeous fish shaped bottle).

Which I blogged about a while ago (here).

Basically this person wanted to know where they could buy this wine in America (Florida, specifically).
Well I found the bottle in Osaka, Japan, so unfortunately I can’t help much in that regard.

However if anybody else knows where this wine can be found in the US (I believe they were actually after the white wine version), can they leave a comment and I’ll pass it on to them.

Villa Dante Boscato Rosso

I just love a gimmick. Especially when it comes to wine – for years (and to be honest still now) I used to choose wine solely on how cool, weird, stupid the label was. I used to drink some pretty average wine from Italy a lot just because it had a picture that looked like The Godfather on the label (and it wasn’t from Ford Coppola’s winery!).

So when I saw a fish shaped bottle in the off license near my office, I just had to buy it. Although it was nearly topped by an Australian wine called Wally’s Hut – gonna get that next week I think.

It’s from Villa Dante winery in Tuscany, and inevitably (a gimmicky bottle kind of implies a not so good wine), it wasn’t a good wine.
