Sake from a Bamboo Jug

If, like me, you think the only way to drink Sake is from a bamboo cup then you’d have been just as excited as I was the other Friday at a works drinks outing in a Bamboo themed izakaya when this appeared…

How cool is that, and the sake was pretty nice too (a local brand, can’t remember the name due to the many beers I’d had before it).

My fellow workers saw how excited I was with the bamboo cups (simple things please simple minds and all that) that they concocted some story about it being my “Sayonnara” party and I was heading out of Japan the next day…so could I take the cups home as a souvenir…

At first the answer was no :(

…but then about five minutes later the manager found a jug they don’t use anymore and gave me that and a cup to go home with! :)

Unfortunately I walk past the restaurant on the way to work every morning so now have to keep my head down and hope no-one recognises me (Gaijin tend to stand out in Japan, so it’s difficult to blend in!)
