Japan Beer Sales Down But Kirin On Top
TweetBeer sales in Japan have dropped this year apparently due to an unseasonably cool summer…um, was that the really hot, humid summer I just lived through? Unseasonably cool huh?
Kirin won out amongst the big 4 market leaders but only by .6% to Asahi (Super Dry didn’t sell well this year).
Suntory Holdings Ltd came third followed by Sapporo Breweries.
As I blogged about previously, other category beers like Happoshu and the Third Category have increased in sales due to the recession.
In fact, Third Category beer has nearly 30% of the market share, with regular beer dropping just below 50% for the first time ever!
Personally I can vouch that as being true as at home I only really drink the third category beers these days with my current favourite being Mugisugiri
