Tongerlo Double Blonde 6

Tongerlo Double Blonde 6

Brewery : Haacht Brewery
Location : Belgium > Boortmeerbeek
Beer Type : Ale
Alcohol : 6% Abv
Score: 90 by MoIppai (16/01/2012)

This Abbey beer is actually brewed by the Nobertine monks of Tongerlo Abbey with the help of Haacht Brewery. The abbey had been brewing their beer since the 12th Century apparently, but this came to an end during World War I. Haacht Brewery helped them start up again in 1989, and they currently brew 4 types of Abbey Beer.

This one is the Double Blonde 6.

It's slightly cloudy on the pour and a dirty dark straw colour (their website calls it "copper" which to be honest if I was their PR person, I'd probably use that instead of my description), with a big white frothy head.

On the nose it's slightly fruity, hoppy and likewise on the palate, there's a light fruity hoppiness.

The Double Blonde 6 has a slightly frothy, fizzy mouthfeel to it with a soft, pillowy feel.

There's some roughness on the teeth, only slight mind.

Overall, a nicely balanced hoppy abbey beer.
A great find!
