Susukino Beer

Susukino Beer

Brewery : Susukino Brewery
Location : Japan > Hokkaido
Beer Type : Beer
Alcohol : 5% Abv
Score: 86 by MoIppai (08/09/2011)

This ji-beer (craft beer) from Susukino Brewery in Hokkaido contains appropriately enough Hokkaido water.

It's a light golden colour on the pour with a small, very white head.

The beer itself is not so fizzy and has a light hoppy smell and I can imagine notes of the sea (is that the Hokkaido water??)

On the palate it has quite an unusual taste, not malty or floral hoppy, but kinda difficult to place. It actually reminds me of a happoshu (low malt "fake" beer), which isn't good.

It's quite a dry beer and overall it's ok, but kinda disappointing.
I don't know why, but I was expecting more from a craft beer from Hokkaido.

They have a website (here) but it's all in Japanese unfortunately.
