This is one of the tie ups between Hokkaido based chocolate company, Royce, and Hokkaido based brewery Sapporo.

Last year I tried the Bitter version, but didn't see the Sweet one until this year, so I wonder if they expanded their range this year? They were certainly more prevalent this year, in fact they still have them in my local supermarket (they come out for Valentines day basically, so usually disappear in March).

Perhaps they didn't sell so well this year, so shops still have stock left?

Anyway, I digress.

The can states "Made from roasted malt and cacao having the characteristic of mellow sweetness".

On the pour it's black and fizzy like a glass of coke, with a light, sweet chocolatey nose.

On the palate there's an odd chocolatey taste. It's light and sweet, not overly chocolatey.
It comes in more on the finish.

It's sweet, but there's a very slight bitterness to it on the aftertaste.

It's an ok "beer" (happoshu), but nothing special. Doubt if I'll have this one again.
