This Real Ginger Ale from Kiuchi Brewery in Ibaraki prefecture Japan is part of their Hitachino Nest Beer brand, which are not only available in Japan but also the US aswell since 2000.

This beer is brewed using fresh ginger and is very, very gingery.

On the pour, it's a dark muddy, cloudy brown in the glass, with no head, and fairly fizzy.

There's a strong fresh ginger nose, reminded me very much of ginger biscuits I used to have back in England.

Lots of fresh ginger on the palate. I keep using "fresh", as it doesn't taste chemically at all, which I imagined it would for some reason.

I mentioned it had a ginger biscuit nose and this tastes just like a liquid ginger biscuit in the mouth.

This is an unusual, quality beer, definitely worth checking out. And quite strong on the alcohol too at 7.5%.

Kiuchi Brewery also have an excellent website in English where you can find more about their brewery and range of beers and sakes (they started out as a sake brewery, and continue making sake to this day). Their website is http://www.kodawari.cc.
