Had this Japanese craft beer in a ryokan in the onsen town of Misasa in Tottori prefecture (a couple of hours north-west of Osaka).

It's a stout so obviously dark and black, but not heavy on the pour, and had a yellowish light fizzy head. Looked like a glass of coke.

Quite a light stout, not very creamy like some are.

Taste-wise it was quite malty with a long aftertaste, and bitter and dry.

I'm not usually a big fan of stout but this one went down very well, it was light and very drinkable.

To be honest it's probably the first stout I've tasted and actually really liked.

And it has a great photo of a temple up a mountain (Mitoku Mountain) on the label.
