Humming Ale

Humming Ale

Brewery : Anchor Brewing Company
Location : USA > San Francisco
Beer Type : Ale
Alcohol : 5.9% Abv
Score: 85 by MoIppai (23/12/2010)

Reading from the bottle label "Humming is an ancient term, used centuries ago to describe both ales and beer."

So that explains the name.

This is a golden, very fizzy lager (ale) with loads and loads of tiny bubbles, almost like champagne.

Because of these it has a big, pillowy white head.

The Humming Ale has a subtle nose with hints of citrus and on the palate it's a very unusual tasting beer. Quite bitter with some unusual sourness. And dry.

There are some cirtrusy notes to it too on the aftertaste.

The mouth feel is very light, almost hollow (if that makes sense).

The orangey, citrusy taste builds as does the bitter peel notes. It's not orangey like a Belgian fruit beer though, more subtle but persistent.

Overall an unusual beer, glad I tried it, but probably won't try it again.
