This "白ビール" (Shiroi Biiru - White Beer) from Ginga Kogen Brewery, is, "From the brewery on the tablelands. The fruity aroma and rich flavor is original to Ginga Kogen." apparently, so lets find out.Location : Japan > Iwate

On the pour it's quite fizzy, and a cloudy, dirty straw colour with a small snow white head.
The nose is a fairly standard white beer nose with a bit of fruitiness and some cloves and spices.
On the palate, fairly smooth but the balance seems a bit off. Quite a bitter finish, and fairly dry. There's quite a bit of clovey spiciness to it, but I didn't get much fruitiness on the palate. None of that orange peel you sometimes find in white beers.
It does have a nice soft mouth feel, but overall I'm a bit disappointed. I was hoping for more from Ginga Kogen.
Still, it's very drinkable and makes a nice change from my usual happoshu's and daisans!
Update: I finished writing this review and poured the rest of the can in the glass (only tasted half a glass), and there was a whole load of sediment in the can. It's now a very cloudy, yellowy orange beer and strangely the flavour seems to have mellowed. Not changing my score or opinion of it though, just thought I'd mention the sediment in the can, so if pouring this yourselves, maybe you should pour the whole thing in one go.
