GenMai Beer

GenMai Beer

Brewery : Toast Tazawako Kohan no Mori Beer
Location : Japan > Akita
Beer Type : Beer
Alcohol : 5.5% Abv
Score: 88 by MoIppai (23/01/2012)

GenMai means unpolished or unmilled rice in Japanese, and unfortunately I didn't check the ingredients on the label to see if this was made with unmilled rice when taking these notes.
It's likely that some brown rice was added to alter the flavour.

In the glass this is a golden straw colour, very fizzy with a small white head.

Quite hoppy on the nose.

The palate is light, fresh and hoppy with some slight bitterness on the finish.

A second big swig bring more bitterness on the aftertaste.

Quite dry too.

Actually the aftertaste began to taste almost chemically bitter after a while which was a shame.

Otherwise a nice, fresh, refreshing beer.
