Duchy Originals Organic Ale

Duchy Originals Organic Ale

Brewery : Wychwood Brewery
Location : England > Oxfordshire
Beer Type : Ale
Alcohol : 5% Abv
Score: 93 by MoIppai (12/06/2010)

This ale is one of the Duchy Originals range which are owned by the Prince of Wales (they also make jams, teas, biscuits, etc) although it's actually brewed by the Wychwood Brewery (who make the Hobgoblin ales and others).

It has a toffee brown, dark leather colour and is slightly fizzy with a gorgeous ale smell and hints of toffee on the nose.

In the mouth it has a smooth, subtle hoppy flavour and is medium bodied.

It's bitter and dry and there are toffee notes on the palate and also hints of caramel.

This is quite a flavoursome ale and overall...Excellent.

I would have liked to have bought more but unfortunately it's pretty expensive (in Japan at least) at a fraction under ¥1000 ($10) for 500ml bottle (Japanese beers for example cost about ¥350 for the same).

However all the profits go to the Prince of Wales Charitable Foundation so at least the money goes to a good cause.
