This Dogo Lager from Minakuchi Brewery (水口酒造) who make the Dogo Beer brand is brewed in the Kolsch style (a German style of beer that's less bitter than a standard German lager, and tends to be quite hoppy). Location : Japan > Matsuyama

The brewery is based in Matsuyama City in Shikoku, the fourth largest island in the Japanese archipelago, just to the south of Kobe and Osaka.
The lager has a light toffee, caramel colour on the pour and has a fairly fizzy white head.
There's a light maltiness on the nose.
On the palate it's fairly light bodied, fresh, crisp and a little hoppy with some maltiness.
Very smooth and drinkable. A little bitter on the finish but quite subtle.
Overall a very good, refreshing lager. I reviewed this back in the summer after a trip to Shikoku and the brewery and it went down very well in the hot and stuffy Japanese heat. I wished I had a couple more.
