Dogo Beer Alt Type

This is the Alt Type of beer that Minakuchi Brewery (水口酒造) who make the Dogo Beer brand, brew. The brewery is based in Matsuyama City in Shikoku, the fourth largest island in the Japanese archipelago, just to the south of Kobe and Osaka.

It's a dark caramel, toffee brown on the pour with a big creamy yellow/off-white head.

There are dark buttery, creamy notes on the nose with this beer.

On the palate, it's a medium bodied beer with some of the buttery notes coming though on the taste aswell as the nose.

It's not too bitter, and there's not too much flavour on the aftertaste.

The Dogo Beer Alt Type is an unusual tasting beer. It's the first time I've come across this buttery creamy taste in a beer. It's almost like the buttery mixture you get at the bottom of the bowl when making a cake, which I was allowed to scoop out and eat with my fingers when I was a kid - the highlight of watching my mum make a cake!
It's buttery but not overly sweet though.

Interesting. Worth a try.
