This summer (2010) the main drink makers in Japan have been pushing the 0% "beer-like drink" market, with Suntory All Free (which Suntory recently took off the shelves as it was selling too quick, and demand was outstripping production), and one from Kirin which I can't remember the name of.

This is Asahi's latest effort (after the awful Asahi Point Zero, released last spring). This one is also 0Kcal and very low in purine for those health conscious.

Imagine if you put some cornflakes in a bowl with a tiny bit of milk and lots of water, left if for an hour or so, squeezed the liquid into a can and wrote Asahi on it. You'd have this.

This is unbelievably bad! Disgusting almost. I ended throwing it away after valiantly trying two or three mouthfuls.

It has a light golden pale yellow colour in the glass with an odd wet cardboardy smell.

There's a faint carbonated water taste but the main impact is an odd wet, soggy cardboard, cerealy, cornflakey taste (hence the above description).

I absolutely hated it.
However, my wife, (who can't stand beer), actually said it wasn't too bad and tasted like a soft drink. Although she turned down the chance of finishing the can before I threw it down the sink.

One to definitely avoid!
