This new Daisan (Third Category Beer-taste drink) from Asahi was originally due to be launched back around March, but the Great Tohoku Earthquake on March 11th meant it was delayed until now.

A new Daisan (or anything!) from Asahi is never much to be too excited about, and should generally be greeted with some degree of trepidation, more so in this case as it's got Zero Sugar, and only 4% alcohol.

So here goes.

It's a very pale golden colour on the pour and the fizzy head soon disappears.

On the nose it has almost a faint appley tone to it, like a chemical apple juice.

On the palate, light in body and light in taste. There's some of the metallic taste you often get with happoshu or daisans, but not too overbearing. It does have an odd, carbonated feel to it, kind of "empty".

The lightness in taste in this case works in it's favour as it's not as bad as a lot of the other daisans from Asahi.

I would say this was disappointing, but too be honest I wasn't expecting much, and it is at least drinkable (although once is enough).

It does have a nice, summery blue can design though.
