Another one from Yahho Brewing (along with Aooni India Pale Ale, Sun Sun Organic and others), this is a Porter and comes in a can with quite a cool design.

A Porter is basically a Stout (dark beer brewed with dark malts) and was so called as it became popular amongst the stret and river porters of London back in the day (18th Century). The name Stout came from Stout Porter (apparently) which was shortened to "Stout". However this information was gleaned from Wikipedia, so please add a comment or contact me if it's wrong!

So, a Porter is a Stout by another name, more or less.

Right then, on to Tokyo Black...

It's (appropriately) a thick, black drink with a dark, rich, velvety porter/stout smell.

Quite thick and treacley in the mouth, dry and fairly bitter.

I haven't actually tried many porters and not generally a big fan of stouts (although I've just said above they're the same thing so..um...anyway)...

This was pretty drinkable and nothing unpleasant about it (now there's a recommendation!).

Just not sure if I'd buy it again, although, and it's probably sacrilegious to say, but given a choice between this and a Guinness, I'd choose this.
