Biliken is a character or "charm doll" created by an American lady in 1908. He's kind of elf-like with pointed ears, a cheeky smile and tufts of hair on his head.

A wooden statue of him lives at the top of the Tsutenkaku Tower in Tennoji, Osaka and is a big tourist attraction.
You rub his feet and he makes your wishes come true.

In many ways he's become like a mini icon of Osaka and has been used to promote traditional Osakan culture around Japan and the world (he recently came back from a world tour).

This is his beer, and there's a great picture of him on the impressive label.

As for the beer, well it's made from barley and hops and is not fully filtered so is slightly cloudy.

It has a fruity, hoppy nose with strong flavours of breakfast cereals.

It's sweet to taste and has a slightly syrupy feel in the mouth, which disappears as it slips down the throat leaving a strange empty sensation.

The beer has a short finish.

Overall the best thing about it is the label, it was too sweet and hoppy for me unfortunately.
I really wanted to like this beer as I've been to visit Biliken at the top of the tower a couple of times.

Not bad to try though.
