Another bizarrely named "beer" from Japan. This one is a "Hard Sharp" daisan (third category beer) from Asahi and does actually have barley in it, although it is the last ingredient listed.Location : Japan > Osaka
Beer Type : Daisan (Happosei,Third Category)

The strange name "Strong Off" actually refers to the beer being "Strong" as in high alcohol (7%) and "Off" which is the Japanese/English for low in something (in this case carbohydrates - 60% Off apparently).
This "Strong Off " is another classic bad tasting daisan from Asahi - how do they manage to get it wrong so many times?
Tastes nothing like beer. It's a little sour and, to be honest in it's favour it doesn't have too much of the usual metallic taste that happoshus and daisans have, but overall it's pretty bad.
Having said all of that, I tried it with some smoked cheese and it went together suprisingly well. Perhaps because the smoked cheese cheese had such a strong flavour it covered the daisan, but it definitely made it easier to drink.
I'll score it 74 w/o cheese, and 79 with.
