絹の贅沢 (Kinunozeitaku) Silky Comfort

絹の贅沢 (Kinunozeitaku) Silky Comfort

Brewery : Suntory
Location : Japan > Osaka
Beer Type : Daisan (Happosei,Third Category)
Alcohol : 5% Abv
Score: 90 by MoIppai (13/01/2012)

This is one of many daisan's from Suntory, but possibly one of the best.
It comes in quite an unusual, understated, almost elegant can (okay maybe that's taking it a bit too far, but I do like the calligraphy script for the English name).

It's a golden straw colour on the pour, very fizzy with a white foamy head.

It has a light, clean, slightly hoppy smell (in the background).

On the palate it's crisp and clean.
No chemical/metallic taste you often get with daisans (although to be fair, recently they've been getting a lot better with that. Happoshu's on the other hand...).

Tastewise it's a little dry and bitter, but more fresh than bitter. Not much on the finish but for a daisan this is very good.

I gave it a very high score (90), but bearing in mind this is for a daisan, compared to a real beer...not so much. Still, a very good effort and cheap to boot.
